Carry Me Home – EP Release
Skyelar Clarke
Our attention was first peaked a few weeks back when Michael Sutton released his new EP featuring the angelic and hypnotic vocals of Skyelar Clarke.
Thankfully, we do not have to wait long for the next instalment of this young and local talented Singer/Songwriter, actor and performer. Her new EP, “Carry Me Home” was released today, 12 September.
A Born Star
angelic and hypnotic
Skyelar began paving her way in the entertainment industry at the early age of seven, where she starred as a child actor and began performing and working alongside the CMDA (Casterbridge Music Development Academy) founded by American recording artist and songwriter Dave Matthews. This opened the doors to the exposure she needed and had the opportunity to perform alongside well-known South African artists such as Vusi Mahlasela, Prime Circle and opened for artists such as The Parlotones.
Skyelar moved to the UK to pursue her passion further and it paid off! The opportunity allowed her to train under and collaborate with many internationally recognised artists such as Tim Hawes (Ivor novella award winner, worked with Spice Girls, Sugababes, Aaron Carter), Leddra Chapman (Ed Sheeran), Luke Concanoon (Daniel Day Lewis, Jamie Cullum and Ed Sheeran). She also worked alongside Skunk Anansies lead guitarist Ace and Jennie Surmeli in a project called “Tuning In.”
After Covid-19 halted her possible attendance at The Great Escape Festival, she returned home and began to work alongside industry renowned producer DJ Cosher on her four track debut EP.
“Skye’s debut EP establishes her as an artist with pop sensibilities but sits her slightly to the left of mainstream, with echoes of Christine and the Queens fused with Indie soul vocal textures reminiscent of Florence and the Machine. Intelligent lyrics sit nicely on a lush sonic landscape and invite further exploration.” states Tim Hawes
